Baptism
Sometimes called a christening, baptism marks the start of our Christian life and is a sign of God's grace and love freely given to us in Jesus Christ. In baptism we are welcomed into the family of the Church. The Methodist Church offers baptism to all, infants and adults, usually in an act of Sunday Worship so the whole church can offer its welcome and support.
Dedication
Some parents choose not to have their child baptised because they wish for them to make their own decision when they are old enough to understand for themselves and have made their own personal commitment to Christ. In such cases a service of dedication is offered. The Methodist Church does not differentiate between those baptised as infants and those baptised as adults, and therefore dedication is not viewed as "second best."
How to arrange
To arrange a baptism or dedication please contact the Superintendent Minister. Baptism is a Sacrament and therefore there is no charge.
