Hatherleigh - EX20 3HZ
Services - 11am and evening services as advertised
Hatherleigh Methodist Church is situated in Bridge Street, opposite the entrance to the town car park and the market. It is very much a part of Hatherleigh's strong community life.
The present building, with its beautiful stained glassed window, designed by two Church members and made by monks at Buckfast Abbey, was opened in 1983. It was built on the same site as the previous building that had been a prominent place of worship for over 100 years.
Sunday Services are held at 11.00 am with a wide range attending and a Sunday Club available for children. Occasional services are held at 6.30 pm as advertised. Worship is traditional, yet informal and inclusive, and attract good congregations. On the fourth Sunday morning worship is shared ecumenically with St John's (C of E) and the Community Church.
Events during the week include on Tuesday's market day a Prayer Meeting at 9.30am followed by a busy Coffee Morning, and a monthly Luncheon Club for senior citizens. There are occasional concerts throughout the year, and the chapel is an excellent place to view the annual Hatherleigh Carnival with it's famous "Tar Barrel Run."
